Checklist: How to effectively engage and use expert witnesses

With many Australians now working from home, improper workstation setups and prolonged sitting are leading to discomfort and potential musculoskeletal disorders. It’s crucial to address early signs of pain by adjusting your workstation ergonomically, regularly changing positions, and incorporating movement to prevent serious injury.
Advancements in information technology have made control rooms vital for managing complex systems across various industries, highlighting the need for meticulous design. Applying ergonomic principles, such as user-centred design and optimal layout, enhances efficiency, safety, and comfort in control centres, while adherence to ISO 11064 standards ensures comprehensive design and functionality.
Expert witnesses assist the Court by providing independent and impartial opinions on complex issues, with their primary duty being to the Court. Effective engagement of expert witnesses involves selecting the right expert, briefing them clearly with a detailed Letter of Instruction (LOI), adhering to the Expert Witness Code of Conduct, and preparing thoroughly for court, including site inspections and expert conclaves if necessary.
